Cermaq released its 2025 Sustainability Report, covering salmon farming in Canada, Chile, and Norway. The report reflects performance data, emphasizes transparency, and aligns with emerging regulatory expectations, although it is not EU CSRD-compliant. Key performance indicators received limited assurance.
Cermaq has appointed Silvia Segnini as CFO, Snorre Jonassen as COO, and Bendik Fyhn Terjesen as CTO to enhance its global management team. These changes aim to improve alignment, innovation, and operational focus following the integration of Grieg Seafood operations.
This report covers our salmon farming operations in Canada, Chile, and Norway, with consolidated data at group level. It also includes selected insights from our commercial offices.
“We are very pleased to announce that Cermaq has entered into an agreement with Grieg Seafood ASA to acquire their operations in Finnmark in Norway and British Columbia and Newfoundland in Canada. This will strengthen our competitiveness and contribute to growth”, says CEO of Cermaq, Steven Rafferty
Knut Ellekjær (63) has decided to leave Cermaq after 8 years as head of Cermaq Norway's operations. Kristin Hurum (56), currently Director of HR, Quality and Sustainability in Cermaq Norway, to take over.
The NGO Compassion in World Farming has awarded Cermaq with their Special Recognition Prize for Cermaq’s welfare practices for humane slaughter of its salmon.
With the 2023 report, Cermaq is changing its sustainability reporting to meet the new mandatory requirements in EU regulation (CSRD) from 2025.
